DGP1.5 Iron Filter
This oxidizing iron filter uses a weak potassium permanganate solution to oxidize ferric (red-water iron). The oxidation, precipitation processes occur within the one filter tank which contains a filter media called greensand. The chemical tank is easy to refill. Simply lift the lid from the chemical tank and pour in the potassium permanganate. All other functions are automatic. Potassium permanganate is commonly used to treat water in municipal and community systems. This system can also be used to reduce manganese at pH levels above 7.5.

DB2.0 Iron Filter
This iron filter uses the media Birm which acts as an insoluble catalyst to enhance the reaction between dissolved iron and the iron compounds. The dissolved oxygen content of the water must be at least 15% of the iron( or iron & manganese) for the desired oxidation to occur. The physical characteristics of Birm provide an excellent filter media which is easily cleaned by backwashing to remove the precipitant. Birm also is a good sediment filter media.
