Well Water: Aeration Unit for Iron and Sulfur

DAC 2.0 Aeration Unit For Iron & Hydrogen Sulfide DAC 2.0 Aeration Unit For Iron & Hydrogen Sulfide

The aeration unit consists of an aerator tank with an air release valve, a filter tank and an air compressor. This system is designed primarily to remove iron and hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S). The compressor injects air into the raw water which initiates oxidation of the iron and H2S. As the air and water continue into the aeration tank, a column of air is maintained in the upper part of the tank.

The height of this column is controlled by the internal plumbing of the tank and the air release valve system. As a result, the water continuously cascades through the column of air enhancing the oxidation process. The precipitated iron and sulfur particles are collected in the filter tank, which contains the Birm filter media. According to pre-set days and times, the filter unit backwashes the precipitated particles and other sediments which may be collected.
